Poland owns a bunch of territory that
is rightfully Germany's - Danzig and
west Prussia, the Warthegau, upper
Silesia. Danzig is a really sore spot:
an almost entirely German city, with
a local government largely dominated
by Nazis, but under Polish control.
Alsace and Lorraine might be thought
similar, but they weren't - most
Germans accepted their reversion to
France.
Besides which, Hitler didn't want to
take on France till he was good and
ready. Crushing all of France's lesser
allies first was an obvious step. |
