I never said Truman would just walk away, however I also don't believe he
would reflexively order total all out nuclear attack on the USSR as so many
have postulated on this thread.
I think he would have gone for a more middle of the road solution, nuke
targets in North Korea and points of entry, especially the seaports,
airports and bridges that would allow the USSR to supply more war material
to the battle field.
Maybe it would escalate into an all out attack on the USSR, but I do not see
that as a given.
