No, in the same sense, they still live there. If you prefer, we can call it
their ancestral lands. I'm pretty sure the Lenape are long gone, so I
believe Manhattan will stay with the current owners.

Well they were in the region long before the whiteman showed up. That's a
pretty good claim.
