Well without Hiroshima the end of the war will be different. The USA did
not want to drop a single bomb, they wanted to drop at least two close
together to give the impression that we had a large supply. Therefore once
they decide that the Enola ... was shot down before drop (the only
conclusion they can reasonably reach) they will hold thew second bomb until
the third is ready to be used. As I recall would have been no earlier than
August 19th. Would Stalin have still invaded Manchuria when he did OTL
without the prospect of the USA getting more territory because of the bomb?
Would the Emporer have still been shocked into giving the surrender order if
the two bombs had been used the 20th and 23rd instead of the 6th and 9th?
IOW How do you see this scenario playing out, because going the other
direction chages the circumstances from known OTL to unknown ATL.
