I've read part of the timeline. I can believe somebody else (France) gets
the Indian Empire.
I have problems believing that, regardless of a great Economic Collapse,
native rulers get to buy cheaply cutting-edge military technology such as
steam battleships, and military-grade materials such as steel. It seems the
reason why Africa is not conquered and colonized by the Europeans is that
the Zulus and others make a tech jump at this time.
Well, the author draws a parallel between this TL's Economic Collapse and
the Great Depression. I didn't see the British selling radars to the
Ethiopians in the 1930s, nor anybody offering the Siamese bargain prices for
armor steel.
