The Spanish Netherlands only became Austrian after the War of Spanish
Succession, in which Spain was forced to give up lands to Austria. If
France and Spain won the war, then I doubt they would give up any territory.
Secondly, Philip was in line for the throne, until the OTL Treaty of
Utrecht made him give up his claim to the crown of France. If France
won, Philip would have remained in line for the throne. Secondly, both
the Grand Dauphin, and his son the Duke of Burgundy died before Louis
XIV, so Philip would have at least become regent, if not King outright.
He probably would have become King because he was the brother of the
Duke of Burgundy. |
